Arthur H. Barber I received the following Email with this newspaper clipping. _____________ Hello,
My name is Kathleen Frances Rogers-Reece.
I am the great Granddaughter of Arthur H. Barber and the Granddaughter of Fred L. Barber and Mildred Hoffman Barber, My Mothers maiden name is Beverly Ann Barber. I wanted to contact you about sending some photo's of my Grandparents and a news Clipping that may be of interest to the John Barber of Canada. I believe John to be my second cousin. As I believe his father is my Grandfathers brother. as well as add my email address if possible. I Read Mr. Cheney's email and was shocked to find the name changed to
Brown. As Bridget Brown was my Great Grandmother who was married to Arthur H.
Barber. She came from Ireland at 17 or 18 years old and was born in 1881. According to stories told by my mother she came as a servant who taught
piano lessons to wealthy families children.
My mother often told stories as well about my Grandfather Fred (her father
and the motorcycle with sidecar) as well as a Doberman dog that rode in it with
Cramp. I don't remember anyone ever calling Gram Tut-tut though I do remember
her constantly saying "Ayah and Ain't' he cunnin". We used to giggle about this
as children every time we visited you could count on her saying one or the other
as soon as you got out of the car.
I have been interested in the Barber family genealogy since I was about 11
years old. When my Mother's Brother Bill was killed and we came for his funeral.
At that time we were given a copy of the Dora M. Barber Horle Genealogy. Since
that time copies have been lost, begged, borrowed, And discovered stored by one
or another member of the family. Needless to say I was amazed and thrilled to
find this site on the web. Many thanks go out to you all for this.
I believe that most history told by stories tend to get lost through the
generations and having a point of reference for those who are interested is a
wonderful thing. I wish I had asked more questions when I was young, Begged for
more saved photo's and such. Unfortunately as happens now there is no one left
to ask.
