SPRUILL  TOMBSTONES

Colonel Hezekiah Spruill Jan 22, 1732 - Mar 20, 1804
(son of Joseph Spruill)

"My loving friends as you pass by, As you are now, so once was I, As I am now so you must be Prepare my friends to follow me."
This quote is from his tombstone which is located at the very end of Tyrrell County or the "Goat neck" section, or on the Harless or Farris land, or near a pumping station, or as far down the county from what they call "Sound Side as you can go. At this site, in the woods, there are also other Spruill graves.  These directions were supplied by Jasper W. Hassell of Edenton, NC, who also has some other photos of the tombstones.
SEE THE SPRUILL CHART AND HIS PAGE FOR FURTHER INFO.

Roda Baum Spruill circa 1741 - March 10, 1808

(wife of Col Hezekiah Spruill, Above) "Dear relations do not cry.  I am not dead but here do sleep and here my body must remain til Christ shall call me forth again"

Samuel Spruill Jan 22, 1772 - Oct 30, 1852 (son of Col Hezekiah Spruill and Roda Baum Spruill, above)

"I have fought the good fght.  I have finished my course and kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of rightousness which the Lord the  rightousness judge shall give me at that day:  and not to me only.   ???????

NOTE:  If anyone recognizes just where these are located, please email or send me a map so that I can post it here.  Also, if anyone knows who the land belongs to that would be helpful.  I would like to try to raise some money to erect a fence, sign and arrangements to have the site maintained, but nothing can be done without the owner's permission.  Email me.
