What's In A Name?
Collins - O'Cullane:- Collins may be regarded as an indigenous Irish name. The sept was called O'Coileaian, it's territory being in county Limerick. In the thirteenth century they were driven southwards by the Geraldines and then settled in West Cork. There was also a sept called O'Cuilleain, subsequently anglicised Collins. It is in county Limerick where most of the modern day Collins are most numerous.
