Dear Doris,
Received yours this a.m. and am sorry that every thing is so unsettled and uncertain as to you people coming up here next week.
I am going to see about the camp tomorrow and be sure that it will be all ready for you Tuesday evening. The weather has been very hot here since Sunday just about as hot as it has been all Summer. So I don't think you will be a bit cold while you are up here.
Now if you have to call the trip off let me know and we may arrange some thing better a little later as I expect to move around the 15th of October and that will take me a few days to do it and after that possibly you may do as you suggested hop on a train and come up and see me. I would be more than delighted to meet you in Gardiner when the train pulled in the station. Every thing just has to happen all at once I have got three dates with partys for the first week in October half days so that won't be bad. They are people that I have there dog in training and of course they are anxious to see them work and be able to shoot over them. I am stalling them off until after the first week that is if you people are coming cause I surely want to have a little time with my wife. What do you think. Write just the same as I will be home Saturday night am not going to stay at Damariscotta? Saturday night. I will have to be home Sunday as some people will be here after there dogs and I will have to be here to see them off.
You will only be six miles from Gardiner when you are at the camp so if Viv. needs to telegraph or gets one she will be able to do so. Expect some people from Boston Friday they are going to attend the trials and we are going to make arrangements for a weeks shooting some time in October. So you see this is the busy season for me and I have to make hay while the sun shines as it will be a long loaf for me this Winter as there is nothing to do up here, very hard to get a job any where.
Well my dear little wife I sure will be glad to see you when you do get here wether it will be next week or a later date as you know the old saying absents makes the heart grow founder and I sure believe it. (Yes I do) Now don't feel to bad if you can't come down next week as possibly later it may be better for you and I. But do make it if you all can as I will be disappointed of course but those things have to come and we all have to bare them. So keep up your courage and I will do the same thing. We will both be living in hopes of seeing each other.
Remember me to Jack and Viv. and now my dear wife I shall bid you good night and surely hope that you will rest comfortably. Will be looking for a letter from you Saturday evening when I get home from the trials.
With love and kisses
Pete
