Dear Doris,
Received your letter to day and I can't understand why you didn't get my letter I sent to you before Saturday as I mailed it Thursday so you would be sure and get it by Saturday. Hope you have received one by now as I should hate awfully to hear you had killed the mail man and committed suicide. I am getting as nervous as a kite not getting enough rest I suppose but if I can hold to gether until this season is over with, will be o.k. in a few days. I hope so any way. Then you have got tobe nearer me than what you are now or I will feel like you do th the mail man. You ought to be here tonight if you want to see a real moon. It is surely a great night after being so warm today.
My party quit today and went home on account of it being so warm to hunt. The thermometer was up to 80 today up here.
Make those pajamas heavy so they may come in very handy later. As it is very cold up here in the winter. Well old dear I am in hopes to be able to come down in the dog wagon and bring you back with me soon. There is only one thing that keeps me back now and that is what I am trying to get now is enough money to keep you and I comfortable this winter as there is no possible chance of me getting a job up here this winter. Just got a phone call from Boston and more people coming up for the week and thought I was going to be able to get rested for a couple of days but guess I am out of luck. But who cares if I can only have you with me I am willing to work night and day as long as I can. Got a H___ of a cold now and don't feel any to good to night.
I am going to try and answer all your questions some day if you will let me in person am saving all your letters so as I can answer them to you.
Balcom is still staying at Spears and will be leaving here Sunday for home. He has been having a great time hunting with his dogs. Tell Jack to send me a picture of my wife regardless of what size it is as I want one.
I sure do wish you had two sets of wings so you could make double time up here with me.
Wished I could call you on the phone tonight, it was surely great to hear your voice once again and how many times I wished you were up in this quiet house with me. Then we could talk just as loud as we wanted to without any interferrance. You know the rest. Well my dear it is the same old story late to bed and early to rise the clock is getting near the big twelve and I must go to bed. I have tried every night or I have said to myself tomorrow night I am going to bed early but it is early as a general rule early in the morning.
Just a minute explain this doubting service to me as I seem dumb about such things.
Remember me to all when you see them. Must say good night dear X once more my dearXX
With love,
Pete
P.S. How is the two B's in Abbington on your letter. Have pitty on the mail man.
