To the sweetest little girl on top of this earth, How is that?
Dear Doris,
Received your nice letter and the pictures and I sure was some glad to get them. Met the mail man on the road and stop him and he gave them to me so I didn't have a chance to get home and write you so just sent a note from Gardiner.
Old dear I just wish that I could have you here with me now but under the existing condition I can't but maybe some day we will be together.
I think you done right by telling your folks and I surely would be pleased to meet them.
You have made me take more interest in my work so now seems like I had some thing to work for.
I would have like to seen you in your white dress bet you looked pretty sweet, wished I was there. I didn't leave down there until Wednesday morning as I had some things that I had to iron out before I left and when I got ready to go it was late in the afternoon so I stayed in with my sister and family and Wednesday A.M. left. I would have like to gone down and seen you but I probably would be there yet if I had.
Well I got a yard full of dogs now and will be pretty dam busy for the next three months and after than I don't know what I will do. You mentioned about the fair I think it is the 2nd and 3rd of October and you can bet your life that I will be glad to meet you people there. Will let you know later just the exact dates. I haven't seen any scottys yet only human Scottys.
When I was coming home all is what I could think of was you so when I got to ? I thought probably you would be in bed so I wanted to hear your voice once more so I called you up and I was so thrilled to hear you I couldn't talk.
You are in my eyes all the time no matter where I go or what I do so don't worry about me and I believe what you have written me and I surely will keep the key until we meet again then you can decide as to whether you want it back again.
Now don't get impatient with me if you don't get a letter two times a week as I am a very poor one to write letters if you don't believe me ask Viviennes? but will try and do the best that I can to please you. (Yes I will.)
I wished you would come up and try and use one of my guns think it would be great sport to have you for a partner. You might be able to handle Peg. How about it. You asked me three questions in your letter so if you remember them here are the ans.
What time did you get home - about 3:30pm
How many dogs did you take back - Seven (7)
Do you still love me - Yes I do
Well I must bid you good night as it is very late here in the country most 12 o'clock can you image that. ha Will mail this Sat. am. so you ought to get it Monday.
From your far a way husband who dearly loves you.
Pete
