Dear Dot,
This is Saturday evening and have had a very exciting day in the woods to day.
Received your letter tonight and am very sorry that you are so upset but forget about your friends and showers although they are nice but their cheap talk won't hurt you and I. Just remember to be able to think sometimes with out expressing your thoughts to them.
Just remember my dear some of your friends that I know are all married and if anybody should ask me they are very unhappy marriages if not they wouldn't do and act as they do as they show very ill respect for each other and their familys. You know that as well as I do. Not mentioning any names.
Now don't get upset or think that I am trying to advise you in any way as when you and I are together up here in gods country we will have all we can do to take care of ourselves and let the neighbors alone. Then your good friends of Abington can burn your ears off and mine too as long as they don't get to near the dogs and get bit. What say you?
Received the pictures yesterday and my dear little wife's picture is very good well framed and have put it in the front room. Some are not so clear but can tell them all o.k.
Have got a party for next week end over the holiday. This is all this week am beginning to feel good again so as soon as I know definitely about my dogs after the season closes I am coming down after you regardless of Thanksgiving unless you insist on being at home for that day.
Your last letter says I haven't answered any of the questions you have ask me you are right my dear your double ring service is o.k. by me if you want it. Now don't get impatient with me as that is one thin you will have to learn to do if you live up in this country or any where else is not to jump to conclusions and reason things out a little to your self. Gee I will be glad when you are up here with me. I know you will feel better and after you get over the change you will like it as it surely is great here in the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Well my dear my water is a sizzling and I am going to jump feet first one at a time through in the tub and then in to bed. Will finish this tomorrow evening so you will get it Tuesday. Got a lot of house work to do tomorrow after church? So good night my dear and look out for the catty women.
Back again Sunday evening. Raining and blowing like H__ tonight got all my out side work done just in time tonight before the storm started.
Had a great time to day cleaning house some job scrubbing the floors dusting around will be a regular old lady if I don't look out. This is some little house when you come to look around hope you like it.
Haven't got the furnace started yet read no need of it for me and besides I have got to go easy on the wood so when you come up here I don't want you to freeze the first winter in Maine.
I have another job to do around here but will have to waite until I get more time and that is to straighten out the cellar.
Have got the pump fixed and going again but water seems rusty I guess the pipes are rusty but will clear up in time hope so anyway. Thought I was goint to sell another dog but the deal feel through, sorry it did so we have got to have the cash.
I think that I had better waite until I get down there to guy you a ring as it will be better for you. I am going to try and get a man to look after my dogs while I am away possibly I won't be able to be away from here but a few days. If it is real cold weather I think that we ought to travel by train but will see how it is by the time I leave here. How much have you got to move when you leave home will my dog wagon be large enough to carry everything. Be sure and let me know.
I am going to come down a day before we get married so as you can explain it all out to me, do we have to have some body stand up for us or witnesses or what I am dumb on this business as I never attended a wedding and dam few funerals so you will have a lot of explaining to do. How much is it going to cost and what else is there.
Give me a general idea so as I can be prepared.
You will find a letter from the woman that owns this place she has been staying in Whitman for awhile. So you read it and hold on to it for me.
Will must say good night my dear little wife and don't let the cats get your goat keep your ears open and mouth shut to them as all they want is you to talk. As I notice they just thrive on gossip. It won't be long now before you will only hear dogs barking. So will say good X night my dear X good night XX
With lots of Love
Pete
P.S.
I wrote Viv. a short letter thanking she and Jack for the pictures also telling her just how I felt about her in camp. Have hot her letter hear. O.K. What? Say nothing to her that you know I wrote her unless she says something about it.
