Dear Doris,

This has been a left handed day for me every thing has gone a__ backwards if you know what that means.  But how ever I hope it will be a lot brighter tomorrow.  Got Viv and your letters this am. and knowing you were sick in bed hasn't help me much just thinking of you and old dear how sorry I am for you it is hell to be so far away that if I only could just run in and see you for a while I would feel a lot better.  Do try and get up here if you can will be more than pleased to be with you for a while anyway I am having a h__ of a time about a place for my dogs thought that I had rented a place and the next day I find out that I can't have it as the place is under an administrator which time expires in October therefore  they won't give me a lease of a year as it has got to be sold before then.  So that puts me in another muddle with myself and no body to talk it over with or advise me just what to do.  So if you here of a job around any where so as I can see you once in a while let me know as these dogs can all go to H___.

Don't gett Blue or Green when you read this but that is how I feel tonight.  Awful sorry to hear you are sick in bed can't sleep much tonight and probably won't until I hear you are better and able to be your self again.

Well I lost a dog Monday night chewed a hole in the kennel fence and got out and I spend half the night last night chasing all over this country looking for him.  Had two telephone calls that he was seen in different places but couldn't locate him anywhere finally got in about 1 am and no dog.  About 8 am this morning I seen him running down the state road and I mounted the dog wagon and after him I sent finally got him and brought him home.  Then the dam fool tried to get out again and I finally chained him in the barn and called up his owner Mrs. Ricker at Poland Springs? to come after her beautiful dog.  Which she did and good riddens to that bird.

Well you ask me to describe this country to you it is hard for me to do all as I can tell you there are hills, roads, fields, and very rough woods.  A beautiful country if you really like nature.  Cold as you know what in winter but just great in the summer will make you rugged and beautiful if you come here.

Wish you was here tonight very sorry that you are not well and able to be about.  How are the black and blue sports, still showing.  Can see them now.

Went to see the old lady about the camp and she said her husband has gone to Southport, Maine for a week but I think that I can get it for the first week in October o.k.  If not I will find a place for you all near bye where I can see you anyway.  Try and make the trip if you can as I am canceling a hunting trip where I am to guide a party for bird shooting the first week in October.  Let me know for sure if you are going to be up here.

The fair isn't much but seeing you will be a lot.

It is way after midnight now old dear and every thing is quiet as I don't know what I am still thinking of my little girl in Abington and I am looking forward to see you once again to hold you in my arms as I did when I left you.

Tell Viv. and Jack that I will write them soon and that I wished I did live closer so we could enjoy some good times together.

Hope we may again all be together for a real good time.

Regards to all with love,

Pete
