% My much improved little sweetie

Dear Doris,

So glad to hear you are out of bed and feeling better.  Try and be careful for a few days so you can come up here as I would hate awfully to hear you had to go to the hospital.

What do you think was the trouble the black and blue spots or what caused them.

It will be great to see you again will be able to have a long talk all by outself somewhere in the wilds of Maine.

I have got to go to a field trial at Domariscotta? the 28-29-30th of September and then I am supposed to guide  a party the 1st-2nd of October up to Ellsworth.  The hunting season opens Monday 1st of Oct.

But after that I have canceled the rest of the week for myself.  I may be able to drop this date but hate to as it would pay me good money for the two days.  I will let you know just how I will be situated by that time.

If I have to be away in the day time I will be with you at night any way regardless.

This really is my busy time of the year but I am afraid if you waite untill later it will be to  cold to stay in a camp.  I may be located different than I am now by then.  Had a new proposition put up to me today about a place am going Monday to talk it over with the party. If I decide to take it and the conditions are right you will leave to come up and see me some time ( ?  west ?)  I will let you know when it will be convenient for us all to be together once again.  Just now I coun't tell you any thing definate.  Keep up your courage as I am cause I am just as anxious to see you as I can be.

I may have to go down there this winter if I don't get located up here pretty dam soon.  Would like to get a job down that way for the winter.

Well now my sweet little wife you take it easy for a while and don't try and show them just how strong you are as you will need all that strength when you get up here.

How do you suppose you would like to go in the woods with me and my dog if so bring some old clothes with you and try it.  Great sport if you like it.

Don't be surprised if you don't get a letter from me for a few days so I have got to write to all those dog owners about there dogs.

By the way Friday evening a fellow drove in the yard and gave me three small bottles of home brew first I have had in a a long while.  It was very strong and lively had a H__ time drinking it under the barn.  Got to get out of site around here when you have any of that stuff as they are death against it.  So I have to be careful.  I wrote Viv. about the dog if she does run onto any body that wants a real pup.  Would like to sell her and two more dogs that I have.

Must say good night now and I surely would like to be there to say it right and what goes with it.  Hope you will be o.k. and not have to go to any hospital.

Remember me to all.

Lots of love,

Pete
