Sept 22, 1934

To my little Sweetie so far away.

Dear Doris,

Received two letters this a.m. from you.  Sometimes I don't get your mail from 3-4 days after you mail them so this is R. D. and it lays over in Gardiner.

Well I was more than pleased to hear from you and I surely feel and am very glad that the Doctor o.ks you.

Very sorry to hear about Viv. grand mother as she sure is a dear old soul if ever there was one.  Mac  used to think  a lot of her.  Probably Viv. has told you he did.  Really feel sorry I didn't go and see her when I was down there.

Well I am back in the old harness again and nobody  tried very ha to kill me after the field trials were over.

Had a nice time although it was very warm and muggy over there it is quite some job to follow dogs around the same course every day.  But however I have survived the task and am still going strong.  I wished so much that you could have been with me as I think you would have enjoyed it over there as it is beautiful country and plenty of spring water if you can't get anything else.

Don't worry about me getting any girls when I have got my little sweetie coming up to see me next week.  Will be so glad to see you don't know just what I will do.  Guess I won't be able to talk or any thing else but just love  you to dearth for awhile.  So be prepared.  Tell Jack that the camp is in West Gardiner near the wharf bridge that is on the road to Litchfield from Spears Corner.  It is on the stream he will know just where it is.  Don't worry I will be in Gardiner to meet you just can't hardly waite for Tuesday evening.

I am going to the trials at Damariscotta? Saturday morning as I have got a puppy to run for a man.  That is a real man the fish and game commissioner quite a nice man to, was over to see me this evening.

I surely will be able to show you the outside of my new home when you come up as I won't be able to take possesssion until some time next month.  Therefore, I won't be able to show you inside the house.

Well old dear I am just about ready to fall asleep as I am really tired to night been going steady since 5 a.m. this morning and it is not most 12 o'clock.  So you can see it makes a long day when you have very many dogs.  So my dear I am going to say good night to my wife and that she may be spared and protected until I hold her once more in my arms so tight that she will always remember.

Remember me to Viv., Jack and Helen and I surely do hope that every thing will be o.k. for you people to come up next week.

With love and lots of it.

Pete
