Hufton Coat of Arms The Hufton Family of Eastern North Carolina originiated in Virginia and settled on the south side of the Albemarle Sound.  The father of the present Hufton's may have descended from John Hufton through David Hufton of Perquimans County (Albemarle County), but there is no proof of that.  The Perquimans County Huftons were present a early as 1694.  John Hufton was granted 524 acres of land by his mother on Sept. 1, 1694.     WHAT'S  IN A  NAME?
