Secretary of State Colony of North Carolina Tyrrill County Date 3 August 1738
In the name of God Amen ye third day August in year of
our Lord 1738 I John Jennette of Tyrrill Precinct Cupper being in perfect
helth and strenght of body thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind
the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to
dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give & recommend my Soul into ye hands of God
that give it and for my Body recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a
Christian like and dicent manner at ye discretion of my Executors nothing
doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by ye
power of God and as touching such worldly Estate whearewith it hath pleased God
to bless me in this life I give devise dispose of ye same in ye following manner
or form
Imprimis - I give and bequeath to Dorothy my dearly beloved wife the
use and ocepeation of the third part of my hole Estate deureing her natrel life
and after her desese to William Jennett and his Heirs forever.
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son John Jennett one
shilling
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Elizabeth
Alexander one shilling
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Dorothy
Poplewell one shilling
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Jean one
shilling
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jabez Janett one
shilling
Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son William Jennett
whome I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole executrix of this my last
will and Testament and all singular my lands messuages and tenements by him
freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and
disannul all and every other former Testament Wills Legacies and Bequeaths and
Executors by me in any wayes before named, willed and bequeathed ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

The Last Will and Testament of John Jennet Desc was proved in open
court by the oath of Joseph Spruill subscribing evidence thereto and on
motion of William Jennet who quelified as Exetor of said will praying an
order for letters Testrementary granted and ordered that the Honorable Nathaniel
Rice Esqr. Secretary have notice thereof that letters may ishue accordingly.
