Dear Edith,
I have just received your letter and the love and devotion for me in it made me feel very sad. When I look back and think of our home life we did not think of the rough road ahead but yours has been worse then mine and for which I am gives me much and yet after all some people in this old world have ? and I am truly grateful we have each other it is a comfort isn't it.
I am glad the storm did not strike you it was something fierce in N. H. and we have not got over the effects of it yet.
The Adams ? people are simply flooded and I guess a good many people won't get their packages until after Christmas. I have Harold pie sent and am going to send him one myself. Norfolk is buried in snow also. You and John must have had weather? of a hard time getting your ? together and you must be careful about taking cold. I shouldn't think all your friends would be pleased with them and I know they would if they knew how hard you worked to get them.
This will be a short letter for it is after eleven o'clock now and I have to get up at six.
After Christmas I will write you and tell you the little things I sent to people. I managed so I did not spend much. and for a reason so I could send you more. The inclosed is for you and John to do what you think is best. If you want new sweaters? this should get you two fairly good ones but whatever you do keep warm. I know I shall be delighted with my present and I should think the more of it because you made it. With love to you both and I wish I could be with you on Saturday but I shall think of you.
Chas.
