Sunday Night
Dear Edith,
It does not seem a week ago since I left you but time goes quickly.
I told you I would write when I got home but it has been so blame hot I simply had to give it up. I really thought I would pass out coming down on the train Monday. After the trip down Sunday I did not sleep good that night and left rotten Monday when I got up. Max took all of us to the ? field Monday fornoon and Fran had a fine dinner but I could hardly eat a thing all day.
It's been a hard week and I have had to work like the duce all the time there is no let up on the work and ? be plenty of orders.
Fran spoke about your ham and said she was going to ask you how you cooked it. It sure was a great dinner and John said to me can any one beat it.
I was sorry it made you so much work and kept thinking about it all the way to W. Newton?. I also thought of you on your trip. I'm afraid you did not have good weather but I hope you did and that you had a good ride and a little rest. Last night we had quite a thunder storm but it did not cook of much and to day its been hot again.
While i was away Miss Wright had my room painted and everything was as clean and fine this was a surprise for I did not know she was going to do it.
I think I left my comb and don't bother to send it. It's a new one so you can use it.
The children are crazy to have a ride in one of the birds so Richard is planning how he can make money enough to pay his fair he is a great kid and saves his money but is not a bit stingy. I like this and him. I want him to have my gold watch when I 'm through with it please remember this.
And now i want to thank you both for all the good things to eat and the good time and rest.
It sure did me good and I feel much rested.
With love to you both
Charlie
P.S.
