Letters written by Swain

INDEX   OF   LETTERS

7/2000

This website will contain documents, photographs and memorabilia found in an ancient trunk, purchased from an estate sale over 15 years ago (circa 1985) by George E. Mattson. The trunk contained information concerning John D. Swain and Edith King Peck Swain , their family, friends and associates. Hundreds of documents, spanning the 1800s and early 1900s, were stored neatly, but in no order.  About a month ago I came upon the web page set up by George E. Mattson in which he had begun to transcribe and publish the information he had found in the trunk.  Since my grandmother, Ida Mae Swain, was a Swain descended from the Swains from New England, I contacted George and to make a long story short, he sent me the remainder of the letters so that I could get to work putting them on the net.  Below is a list of the letters that I have so far transcribed.  To see the site set up by George E. Mattson, click here to go there.  Email me, Vergie Barber DeAntonio if you know this family or have any information that would be helpful.

This book, Weird Tales, includes a story written by John D. Swain, titled "Lucifer,"
