Orange Beach is a City steeped in history.  Indians, pirates, and Civil War soldiers inhabited the area at one time or another.  It is believed the City got its name from the orchards of Orange trees that once dotted the landscape and the beautiful white beaches.

The pass to the Gulf of Mexico was opened in 1906 by men with shovels to allow boat passage. Prior to its opening, boats had to travel east around Ono Island to gain entrance to the Gulf of Mexico.

Present day Orange Beach is serene and peaceful and this tranquility is reflected in the pleasant living and natural beauty of the City.  It is often referred to as the "Gem of the Gulf Coast".
