STORY  1

According to one family story Joseph DeAntonio
came to this country from Palermo,Sicily.  The
family story is that he arrived in New York with
a brother and they made their way to SC.  The
brother went on to New Orlenas.
(The brother may
be Salvador D'Antoni of
Standard Fruit & Steamship
Company
in New Orleans.)

STORY 2

The original family name was not
DeAntonio but was belived to be
Antonio. The family came from Sicily
to the US. The family changed its
name when it was learned that one
of the members became involved
in underworld activities in New
Orleans USA sometime around the
late 1800s.

This information was given to me by Lee Dawson and
appears to be part of some document from a ship's
list.  Please contact him for additional information.  Click
on his name above for his email.  If Joseph DeAntonio
was born in 1849, he would have been 37 years old in
1886 so I don't think he is listed here.

I hereby certify that the foregoing list of 625 (three

having died on the voyage) passengers was this

day presented to me by the maker of the S.S.

Letimbro from Palermo, Italy via Gibralter as the

correct list of passengers on board said vessel.

John Spool the body of one of the dead is on board.
