WILL of THOMAS DUNBAR, SR
I, Thomas Dunbar of the county of Tyrrell and
state of North Carolina, farmer, being of sound mind and perfect
memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament,
hereby revoking and making void all wills by me at any time
heretofore made.
First, I direct that my body be decently inturred and as
regards the wordly estate which it hath pleased God to intrust me
with, I dispose of in the followering manner. I direct that my
beloved wife have the plantation whereon I live, during her life
time and afterwards to be the property of my soe BENJAMIN, I also
leave to my beloved wife, one bed and furniture, my family Bible,
and all the rest of my books except my account book, my cupboard
and crockery, and all the kitchen furniture, my mare, one cow,
all my bees, all my hogs and all my sheep. I also direct that my
beloved sone JAMES DUNBAR be paid five dollars by my executors as
soon after my decease as convenient. I also leave my beloved
daughter ABIGAIL BROUGHTON, thirty one acres of land known by the
name of the Broughtons. I also leave my beloved sone JOHN DUNBAR
five dollars to be paid him in cash as soon after my decease as
convenient by my executors. I also leave unto my beloved daughter
DARAH GIBSON, one piece of land running along my land whereon I
live, to the back line of the pattent thence along the back line
to her own line, thence west wardly to her own line. I also leave
to my sone WILLIAM DUNBAR one hundred acres of land lying to the
north west of FRANKLIN DUNBAR'S. I also leave to my beloved sone
THOMAS DUNBAR fifty acres of land more or less square with his
land to the back line of the deed. I also leave to my beloved
sone TURNER DUNBAR all the lands in the deed above WILLIAM DUNBAR
undisposed of. I also leave to my beloved daughter ELIZABETH
BROWN, the land lying between William and Ivey Cahoon's and from
SARAH GIBSON'S line to the back line of the pattent down to the
old plantation line. I also leave to my beloved sone SILAS
DUNBAR, one bed and furniture. I also leave to my beloved
daughter DELILA, seventy one acres of land known by the name of
the John Gibson land, lying on the south side of the old ditch
Dunbar, one bed and furniture, one set of silver table spoons,
and one set of tea spoons. I also leave to my beloved sone
BENJAMIN DUNBAR, the old plantation whereon I now live and square
with it to the back line of the pattent after the death of my
wife. I also leave to my beloved sone BENJAMIN a tract of land
ying between my aforesaid sones, ten acres more or less, one bed
and furniture, all of my farming tools, all of my black smith
tools and all of my carpenters tools. One yoke of young oxen, one
cow, and yearling and one x cut saw. I also leave to my beloved
daughter NANCY DUNBAR, one tract of land known by the name of the
Morris land, beginning on BENJAMIS DUNBAR'S running east along
said BENJ line to my back patten line, thence along the back,
thencealong the line to ELOIZABETH BROWNS line thence up the old
pattent line thence along the old pattent line to the first
station, one bed and furniture, one mahogany table, one cow, and
huffir and one dresser glass mirror. I also leave to my beloved
Grandsone THOMAS, son of JAMES DUNBAR, fifty acres of land lying
on the back of allmy lands beginning at my large pattent line. I
also leave to my Grandsone, THOMAS BROWN, sone of THADIUS BROWN,
one hundred acres of land down the canal known by the name of the
long Ridge land. I also leave to my beloved sone TURNER DUNBAR,
eight acres of land more or less lying on the lake side and
between James Dunbar, and the said Turner, but the timber on the
above mentioned eight acres is to be for the use of the
plantation whereon I now live and after my decease to be used by
my sone BENJAMIN DUNBAR and also I do make and ordain my beloved
sones JOHN DUNBAR and BENJAMIN DUNBAR executors to this my last
wll and testament. I witness, whereof, I THOMAS DUNBAR of the
testator have hereunto set my hand and seal to this my last will
and testament written on one sheet of paper this 15th of
November, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and
Forty One
