Aaron Tyson's Will Hyde Co., NC

30 May 1815

In the Name of God Amen, I Aaron Tyson being of sound mind and memory blessed be God, but in a low state of health do make and publish this my Last will and Testament in manner following that is first I will that all my just debts be paid out of the property hereafter mentioned,

Item: I lend to my will beloved wife Easter the plantation I now live on during her natural life and futher lend her all my horses, hogs, sheep and cattle farming tools & household & kitchen furniture, I lend my wife one negro woman Eady during her natural life or widowhood & further lend her till my two children come of age or married one negro named Luraney & one boy named Gabe.

Item: I will that my Executor sell all my lands on Broad Creek either at public or private sale and such part of my perishable property as my wife shall point out to pay my debts.

Item: I give to my two children Sophy and Elizabeth Tyson all my lands adjoining of William Jordon and others after their mothers death and all personal property and perishable after their mothers death to be equally divided between them Sophy to have the first choice of the land and engross to them and their heirs forever.

I nominate and appoint William Jordan my Executor to this my Last Will in witness I have set my hand and seal this 30th of May 1815.

Caroline E. Tyson's Will

Beaufort County, North Carolina

18 Dec 1900

Know all men by these presents that I Caroline E. Tyson, of Haslie in Haslie in Beaufort and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and of good memory, but realizing the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament, and hereby give my soul to God and who made and give me my existence. Praise be unto his name. Amen.

First: authorize my executor hereinafter named, (can't make out) a good and decent burial of my body and to pay all my just debts out of the first money coming unto his hands and proceeds from my estate. Also to put tombstones on my grave and fence around the grave.

Second: I give and bequeath unto my beloved brother Joshua G. Hursey the sum of one dollars and also give unto my beloved nephew, W. (can't make out) Hursey, one cow and calf to have, and to be in the care of his brother Samuel C. Hursey care until he is twenty-one years old.

Third: I give and bequeath unto my beloved nephew, Samuel O. Hursey all my house hold and kitchen furniture, and all cattle and hogs and sheep and other personal property of very kind and description not herein described or mentioned where were to be found.

Fourth: I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved nephew, Samuel O. Hursey my lawful executor, to execute to all interests and purposes this my last Will and Testament.

In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of December 1900.

Cornelius Tyson's Will

To son, Aaron Tyson, two cupboards and he pay two shillings each to Sarah Stinson (his sister).

To daughter, Rebehach (Rebecca) Mirick (Myrick), 22 pounds cash.

To my wife, Jane Tyson,one cake oven, books,and chaffin dish.

To my son, Richard Tyson, the tract of land where he now lives (in Chatham Co., NC)

To sons, Aaron and Benjamin Tyson, a tract of land beginning at the Chatham County line on the river banks running up the river poles (?).

To son, Aaron, all my remaining land from Spring Branch to the river.

To daughter, Sabrah Gilbert, three pounds cash.

To daughter, Jane Womble, cash in drawers(?).

To son, Thomas Tyson, a desk and books.

To son, Aaron Tyson, half of the wagons.

To son, Benjamin Tyson, five pounds and scales.

To grandson, Thomas Tyson, a feather bed mead (?).

To granddaughter, Elizabeth Tyson, six pewter plates, six white plates, one iron pot.

I appoint as Executors: Benjamin Tyson, Aaron Tyson

Note: The attorney for Cornelius Tyson was "Archibald McBryde". Sons, Benjamin Tyson, also and attorney, and Aaron Tyson, were witnesses.

Matthias Tison's Will

Bath County, NC (Now Hyde County) 1710

In ye name of God Amen. The last will and testment of (torn) Mathias Tisson inhabitant of Baith county, beeing very sick and weak of body butt in perfect sence & memory, blessed bee God for itt. My sole I beequeth to ye Lord who gave itt & my body to ye earth & my world goods as folloth:

I give & beequeth to my son Jhon Tisson - tenn shillings.

To my son, Edward Tisson one cow yearling with all increase.

To my son, Edmond, one cow & calf & one cow yearling with all their increase.

To my son, Tomas Tisson, one cow & calf, with all their increase.

To my daughter, Susanna Tisson one two year old heffer with all her increase.

To my son, Jhonas Tisson one two old heffer & one yearling heffer with all their increase.

To my son, Samuel Tison one tract of land lying on ye north side of a creek called Slaid's creek & one cow yearling with all their increase.

To my son, Mathyas Tisson two cow yearling with all their increase.

I give to my grandson, Aron Tisson two year old heffer with all their increase.

I will and beequeath to my loving wife, Mary Tisson, my plantation and land I now live on and all the rest of my esstait. She paing all my justt and lawful deets. Alsoe I (can't make out) my wife my (can't make out) and sole Exeeatress. In witt whear unto I sett my hand an seal this fifth day of April Anno Domino 1710.

Sarah Tyson's Will Hyde Co., NC

30 August 1826

In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Tyson of Hyde county and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Imprimis. It is my wish and desire that my executor hereafter named should hire out annually at private or public sale at his option my negroes, Gid,Chris,Lewis and Bob until the expiration of ten years and pay over to my son Thos.Tyson, one fifth part of the nett proceeds of hire of said negroes also one fifth part of said nett proceeds of negro Hipe to my daughter Sarah Wilkinson one fifth part as aforesaid to my daughter Elizabeth Gowers one fifth part as aforesaid to my daughter Nancy Ratcliff and the remaining fifth part of said negro hire to my daughter Patsy Silverthorn.

Item: At the expiration of ten years from the proving of my will it is my wish that the negroes aforesaid or such of them as may then be living be divided equally amongst the following persons viz. Sarah Wilkinson, my daughter and her son Ira H. Wilkinson, Wm.Tyson and Thos. O. Tyson sons of Tho. Tyson, Julia Ann Gower and Sally J. Gower, daughters of Joseph G. Gowers, Emeline E. Ratcliff and Charles Henry infant children of B. B. Ratcliff and Sally Ann Eliza Russell, and Mary E. Sulverthorn daughters of Patty Silverthorn aforesaid.

Item: I leave the balance of my estate not given away in this will or conveyed by deed of gift in the hands of my executor to pay my debts.

Lastly I constiture and appoint Thos. J. Latham executor to this my last will and testament. In testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand and seal August the 30th 1826.

Hyde County SS November Term 1837, then was this last will and testament of Sarah Tyson decd. exhibited in open court and duly proven by the oath of G.G. Bourgevis the subscribing witness thereto ordered by the court that the same be recorded. At the same time came into open court Thomas J. Latham the executor therein named and was duly qualified as such.

Thomas O. Tyson's Will

22 May 1878

I, Thomas O. Tyson of the County of Beaufort and State of North Carolina this 22 day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hyndred and seventy eight being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form follwing that is to say.

First, I give and bequeath my soul to God that gave it to me and that my lawful executrix shall erect tombstones to my grave. Iten. I lend to my beloved wife my plantation where I now live her natural life.

I give and bequeath a part of said plantation on Redding W. Hursey and Samuel O. Hursey to them and there ares and assigns forever all of the part of the Suth side of the Pearidge road then across the road running with the Magoons line Northwardly about two hundred and thiry feet to a ditch then with the ditch eastwardly to Seth H. Tyson leading ditch then in a strait line Southwardly to the Pearidge Road.

I give and bequeath to Wredding W. Hursey to him his heirs and assigns forever that part of said land on the east side running a straight line Southwardly so as to include all of the cleared land to James F. Lathams line with said line to a stump eastwadly then with the McGowns line Northwardly to the said road and across the road with said above bounders one acre and a half on the east side opisiot the dwelling house.

I then give and bequeath to Samuel O. Hursey to him his heirs and assigns forever all of that part of land running with R. W. Hursey line to J. F. Latham line then with said line Westwardly to the mouth of potatoe patch gut on the lower daws (?) Creek all of the above boounded land then across the road so as to include all that part to R. W. Hursey line above established then

I give and bequith to George T. Tyson all of that part of said land on the North side of the Pearidge road adjoining Seth H. Tyson and others, to him his heirs and assigns for ever to the above bounded lines.

I lend to my beloved wife all of my land in Hyde County leighing (?) on the North West side of Smith Creek her natural life then I land said land to my nephew J. T. S. Tyson his nutural life.

I then give and bequeath to J. T. S. Tyson's three oldest sons Hurman Webster Tyson, Charles Russell Tyson and Walter Scot Tyson to them their heirs and assigns forever to be equally divided between the three above named heirs.

After paying all my just and hororable debts, I give and bequeath all the rest of my estate by every name and nature to my beloved wife, and lastly I do herby constitute and appoint my beloved wife my lawful executrix to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and claus thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore maid.

In Witness Whereof I the said Thos. O. Tyson do hereunto set my hand seal this 22 day of May 1878.
